CHALLENGE

Millennials are struggling every day with balancing their tasks and schedules.

I want to explore ways to allow them to balance their schedules and become more productive.

Role: UI/UX Designer

Tools: Sketch, Illustrator, Invision

Skills: Visual Design, UX writing, IA, User research

Deliverables: Research Docs, Storyboard, Lo/Hi Fi Prototypes, Style Guide

Platforms: Mobile app design

PROCESS
  • USER RESEARCH

First I used a survey and interview to understand what are the challenges that they had with balancing their tasks and schedules.

TAKEAWAYS:

  • They were having a difficult time procrastinating because they are constantly distracted by Social media.

  • They didn't understand how to prioritize tasks correctly.

  • They had a difficult time switching between different productivity tools and they were disable to concentrate.

  • PERSONA

The persona goal was to find ways to get more out of their day to feel supported and nudged in getting their stuff done.

  • COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

My persona gets extremely distracted and needs help with concentration and prioritization.

Through my analysis I didn't find an application that combined both aspects.

EVERYONE HAS A UNIQUE PRODUCTIVITY STYLE

From a HBR article I found out there are four types of productivity styles; Prioritizer, Planner, Arranger, Visualizer.

When it comes to personal productivity advice for knowledge workers, one size doesn't fit all. In fact, it can have a dramatic impact on the success or failure of time management techniques and performance enhancement strategies.

HOW MIGHT WE Make a product that creates a personalized experience for each productivity style?

  • SOLUTION

BeeZ is a productivity tool that considers all the different types of productivity style and creates a personalized experience. It’s all in one solution that without having to go into multiple productivity tools, users can manage their schedules and prioritizing their tasks.

The words that describe my idea are Productive, Smart,Done, Ritual, Achievement, Joy

  • FROM STORYBOARD TO WIREFRAMES

Iterations were an important part of my design process, I continually improved the designs and tested it with my classmates and instructor (persona group weren't available) while moving from sketches to wireframes to the final Hi-Fi designs through paper and digital prototyping.

  • STYLE GUIDE

After behavioural research on these four types of productivity style, based on each type I chose my colour palette, forms and fonts to create my style guide.

Prioritizer: Logical, analytical, fact-based thinking.

Primary Color: Blue

Planner: Organized, sequential, planned and detailed thinking.

Primary Color: Green

Arranger: Supportive, expressive and emotional thinking.
